God blessed the children of Israel. Balaam said “No misfortune is in his plan for Jacob; no trouble is in store for Israel. For the Lord their God is with them; He has proclaimed their King” (Numbers23:21). God was in the midst of them and no one could do them any harm. God can go to any length to defend His people and He can use anything for the sake of his people. God who ghts for his people will ght all your battles in Jesus Name.
When God is with us, He will defend, protect, advocate, ght, and speak in our favour. God was with Jacob and He defended him.
When Laban discovered that Jacob had ran away from him, he pursued Jacob with the intention to teach him a lesson, but God appeared to Laban and warned him to neither speak good nor bad to Jacob ( Genesis 3 1 ).
Furthermore, Esau also was coming to ght Jacob, but instead of ghting Jacob with sword, he kissed him. Isaiah said that “The sons of your oppressor will return, they will bow and lick the dust of your feet”. Where people have been hostile against you, they will here are three things that Tkeep people away from being blessed and from being a blessing. These are;
(a) Spiritual arrogance (Proverb 16:5),
(b) wounded heart/spirit and
(c) spiritual lethargy.
God is not only with us but God is also among us. There are benets that accrue when people of God gather together. God takes a man from the dunghill and makes him sit with Kings. When you are in the midst of God’s people, God is with you. When you wholeheartedly link up with people who are called by the name of the Lord; the devil will fear you because he knows that God is with you. Even when a reputed sorcerer like Balaam was recruited by Moabites and Midianites to curse the Israelite, he could not do it because God was in their midst.
Balaam came to curse the children of Israel, but God overtook his
mouth and instead of the curse he embraces you because they have no choice. Again, two sons of J a c o b ( L e v i a n d S i m e o n ) destroyed men of Shechem because of their atrocity against their sister. Jacob thus, became afraid that the entire country around will rise up and destroy him, but God led them and His terror came upon all the nations and none could lift a nger to ght Jacob. God said,
none would be able to stand against you all the days of your life.
In the wilderness He sent His angels and His hornet ahead of them. His dread and H i s f e a r a l s o accompanied them. He led them from nation to nations and did not allow anyone to do them any harm because God was among them.
He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes
When the Ocean and Pharaoh conspired to destroy the Israelites on their way out of the land of bondage, o d a r o u s e a n d
defended them. The ocean could not help Pharaoh because the ocean saw the Lord of host in the midst of the Israelites and the ocean had no other options but to ee “The Red Sea saw them
coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan River turned away. The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs! What’s wrong, the Red Sea, that made you hurry out of their way? What happened, Jordan River that you turned away? Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like lambs? (Psalm 114:3-6 NLT). They saw what others could not see, because they saw God in their midst, they ran.
God is among us. Today every sea and mountain threatening your life will ee because they will see God in your life afresh. Jesus went with His disciples to the village of Nain and as He was entering, a funeral procession was coming out of the village gate (Luke 7: 11-17). The young man who had died was a widow’s only son. When the Lord saw her, His heart overowed with compassion and He raised the boy back to life.
When you meet the Lord, death must bow to life. When God is among us, He turns death to life, hopelessness to hope, brings comfort to the oppressed. Rather than mourning you will dance.
God with us
